YATA (Yet Another Text Annotation) is a plug-in for MediaWiki developed for the Wagner group in D-GESS. It supports nesting and overlapping annotation as well as hierarchical categories. Later edits of the text are possible, unlike many similar solutions. If the text has changed, affected annotations are automatically updated. Easy search functionalities, like searching for words in annotations of a given annotation category, are included. The search results include direct links to the annotated text.

The Wagner group use it to categorise an archive of medieval Hebrew mathematical texts. Categories can apply to parts of pages and those parts can overlap. A requirement was to be able to search on categories and display the context of the matches.
