The group Cell Systems Dynamics of Timm Schröder (Web Site) studies cell fate choices and their molecular control in complex and dynamic cell systems. The group is therefore developing bioimaging approaches, including the required software to allow the long-term imaging, tracking and quantification of individual cells and their cellular and molecular behavior in cultures.

Because the data amount is constantly growing, the analysis and post-processing of images become more and more a time-limiting factor. Therefore, automating steps of the analysis and making them more scalable are crucial to keep up with this data increase. SIS took the background correction algorithms developed by the Schröder Lab and put them into a scalable workflow. This allows the lab to perform this time-intensive step on their images on a compute cluster and keeps track of which algorithm and parameters were used to generate the post-processed images.
